yoga IN THE WORKPLACE

Yoga in the workplace is for the individual looking to improve their overall health and help with a sense of accomplishment and well-being. Corporate yoga is given either during lunch hours or during working hours. Corporate yoga is a short, yet well-structured session to stimulate the body’s muscles, wake up the brain, and help overcome stress.

Yoga at lunchtime

Yoga practices at lunchtime are short-lived, approximately 45 minutes, they will meet the needs of people in their workplaces. The primary objective is to stretch, breathe fully and address the pains related to the often static and sitting work positions. It is a session accessible to all, with or without a yoga mat, without necessarily needing to change. The advantage of short yoga sessions during work reduce body tension and soothe the mind by practising sustained but gentle postures. A regular yoga practice helps to increase mutual aid in work teams, collaboration and a sense of accomplishment. It reduces the rate of absenteeism due to stress and prevents “burnout”.

chair yoga for everyone

Chair yoga is a form of yoga inspired by B.K.S Iengar's yoga and Hatha yoga. This yoga, accessible to all, favours the alignment of the spine and full breathing.

The practice of chair yoga helps to strengthen posture and muscle tone. It also helps to develop concentration and relaxation.

The exercises are done sitting on a chair for the most part or using the chair to create supports in standing or lying positions.

Although our main goal is health and well-being, chair yoga also helps with mobility as well as flexibility and muscle strength.

The classes are adapted to the needs of the participants. The technique is based on the alignment of the pelvis with the spine to address problems due to aging and sedentary lifestyle.

Chair yoga helps to regain confidence in our body and allow pain to dissipate.

mindfulness and stress reduction

Meditation in the workplace allows you to better understand the mechanisms of the mind and to have a mind of discernment towards the difficulties of everyday life. Some of the benefits of meditation:

Reduces Stress: Calm your mind and avail relaxation so you can ride the waves of life with curiosity, acceptance and joy.

Maintains health: Reduces pain and inflammation, builds a strong immune system, lowers blood pressure, aids faster recovery, and improves sleep.

Improves relationships: Mindfulness can help us shed our negative assumptions and defences so we can relate to others with an open heart.

Increases performance: Focus, attention, memory, body awareness, and other critical skills all improve with mindfulness.

Promotes life expectancy: Gene expression can change with regular practice—telomeres grow stronger and longer resulting in an increased lifespan.

I have been practicing with Champa at least twice a week for several years. She is an extremely knowledgeable yoga instructor and shares her wisdom generously throughout her classes, giving precise and detailed instructions for each pose. Her approach is gentle and her voice is so soothing practice feels almost like a meditation. Above all, Champa is deeply respectful of the workings of the body so that I always feel very safe practicing with her. You’ll work hard but the rewards are amazing!
